Important clarification has today been provided by Michelin 992 Endurance Cup organisers Creventic, with regard to car eligibility for this September’s all-Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) race at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

With the advent of the latest specification Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992.2 variant, there has been a lot of discussion surrounding the possible introduction of the car into the popular 12-hour endurance spectacular – the third edition of which will take place on Saturday, 5 September.

In order to provide the most level playing field possible and to ensure complete fairness for all competing teams, Creventic has chosen to delay introduction of the newer specification Porsche until the 2027 event.

Following a full review of the technical regulations, only the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992.1 will be permitted to enter this autumn’s Michelin 992 Endurance Cup. Parity and fairness have always been one of the central pillars of Creventic’s sporting ethos, hence the timely decision with just over three months to go before this season’s encounter.

Not all teams have yet had the opportunity to acquire one of the latest specification Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) cars, and the event organiser therefore believes waiting to welcome the new variant into the 2027 Michelin 992 Endurance Cup is the optimum decision.

Looking forward to officially approving the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992.2 for the event’s fourth staging next year, the organising team will publish further details on its integration into the 2027 technical regulations well ahead of next season.

Entries are still open for this year’s Michelin 992 Endurance Cup, an event which has proven massively popular with drivers and teams since its inauguration in 2024. Practice and qualifying will take place on Friday, 4 September, at Spa with the 12-hour race following on Saturday, 5 September. The Top 10 Shoot-Out portion of qualifying, which debuted successfully last year, pleasingly returns.

Introduced for the 2026 meeting are two CR Track Days at the Ardennes venue during the build-up to the weekend, on Wednesday, 2 September, and Thursday, 3 September, to provide even more circuit time for the competitors.

There is just as much taking place off-track as well – organised in connection with Porsche Club Spa-Francorchamps and Vierenzestig.nl – with the return of Porsche Paddock Rendezvous, where Porsche owners can display their cars in the heart of the race paddock alongside a range of other exquisite automotive exotica from the Stuttgart marque. 

In addition, there will be the Grand Marquee where refreshments will be available and there will be memorabilia displays and motorsport artwork. Upgrades will be available to racegoers, including a special VIP package for the Creventic Endurance Lounge. Back on track, there are also going to opportunities for Porsche owners to get involved in a dedicated VIP track session!
