September’s Michelin 992 Endurance Cup powered by Porsche Motorsport at Spa-Francorchamps will feature an exciting change to the qualifying format, it is announced today, with organisers Creventic revealing the introduction of a brand new Top 10 Shoot-Out.

Bringing even more excitement and action to the against-the-clock sessions for the hotly anticipated 12-hour race in Belgium, which is exclusively for Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) cars, there will now be a single lap shoot-out for the 10 fastest cars to determine the top five rows on the grid.

As with last year’s inaugural Michelin 992 Endurance Cup powered by Porsche Motorsport, there will be three regular 15-minute qualifying sessions for the 2025 instalment. Importantly, each of those sessions must be contested by a different driver from each entry.

The first session must feature Bronze graded drivers, unless the car is competing in the PRO class, and if an entry only has two drivers teaming-up then, of course, one of those two must contest session three as well. 

In each regular qualifying session only a single set of Michelin tyres can be used, no tyre changes mid-session are permitted unless punctured, although it is stipulated a different set of slicks has to be utilised in each of the three periods. Should inclement weather arrive and the session be declared ‘wet’ then tyre changes will, of course, be permitted.

When the fastest 10 cars are determined from average times accrued over the three regular sessions, these will progress to the new shoot-out. Again, a different set of tyres to any used across the preceding qualifying periods must be used.

Any driver from the respective entries may participate in the shoot-out, with cars exiting pitlane at one minute intervals in reverse order of their classification prior to the session. One out lap will be followed by the one and only flying lap, and then the cool down lap en-route to the pits. 

As the latest forward-thinking enhancement to the structure of the sophomore Michelin 992 Endurance Cup powered by Porsche Motorsport, both Creventic and Porsche Motorsport are confident the Top 10 Shoot-Out will be incredibly popular with competitors and fans alike!
